Relating back to our Phoenix concept Scott then produced various concepts that could potentially be used as the poster. He tried to represent it in a way that was unique and didn't always connote the element of fire but focused more on the emotions such as fury, aggression and passion. He created these potential poster images on Adobe Photo shop and added various effects in order to see which ones worked best. These examples are shown below:

Intertexual Refrences - Inception
Another one of the references being made within our music video is towards the critically acclaimed film Inception. Due to the fact that within in our video we want it to have this "eye within an eye" theme that corresponds to Inceptions "dream within a dream". In addition we took that element of one thing inside another creating a further sense of depth that can be used to amplify that personal feeling of passion, anger and fury. Furthermore the film its self had heavy emphasis on visual effects and linked them to perceptions of the mind and also influenced us to have a heavy emphasis on emotions and the ways in which we would portray those emotions to the audience. Therefore it caused us to create a conceptual theme to not only to make it aesthetically attractive but find a unique way of exploring these emotions. In addition some of the highly destructive and cinematic moments such as when the city scope begins to fold over is similar to how dramatic we want the scenes within our music video to be. Some of the images that have influenced us are down below:
Intertexual References - Phoenix
We have a range of different different intertexual references within our music video that is represented throughout our overall theme, and is represented in our poster, album cover also. One of our references links to the marvel characters Jean Grey, who inhabits that entity known as the Phoenix, and we wanted to include that sort of element connoting a struggle of power that helped to reinforce that element of fire. Furthermore this would help to relate back to our target audience who would have grown up with these comics and therefore create a unique demographic within our audience and appeal to them in a way that the genre may not have originally done. These are some examples of this Phoenix, and it will show some the elements that we liked. Images are courtesy of Marvel Comics:
There are various elements that we wish to incorporate within our poster and digipak. Some of these consist of that fire, anger and passion that is shown in a calm environment with a central destructive focus; these things can be seen in the second and third image. In addition to create a further sense of realism we wanted try and add a person within the main image, and have the phoenix rising out of them to make our themes of aggression and fury more personal to the audience. Furthermore I wanted to try an incorporate that rave and club elements which connotes freedom and exploration, which the Phoenix helps to represent. We wanted to make to fully place these themes in our poster and digipak and have more conceptual theme in our music video.

7/11/2011 - 11/11/2011 Week Post
During this week we started the planning for our main Media production and we were given a checklist with a list of things ranging from genre study to theoretical approaches, and everybody within our group has to be assigned certain roles an tasks that needed to be achieved by a certain date. Scott was given most of the art based tasks such as the Animatic, typography and digipac and poster research for a genre. Whilst Jubel was primarily given tasks that consisted of essay based tasks e.g. audience research as well as other art based tasks similar to that of Scott. I was given the major analysis tasks such as star persona, genre study and the theoretical approaches. Scott wasn't able to finish his typography concepts, and hopefully next week we as a group will be able to confirm our idea for definite.

Typography Idea's V1
Typography plays a vital role in the visual development in our music video and its used in the digipac, poster and possibly during the introduction of the video. We intend to make our typography bold and unique, not to only retain the interest of the audience but to insure that we don't create a typography that's expected by our audience and may juxtapose the connotations of the songs title. Furthermore "Fire In Your Eyes" obviously connotes fire therefore we wanted to create an alternative interpretation of the name and present the text in a more visually conceptual way. Scott using Adobe Photoshop in order to create an array of different that could appeal to certain genres, that may or may not be incorporated into our own music video.
This effect was composed in Adobe Photoshop and when choosing the font for the text Scott decided to use a simple and clean font to contrast to the grungy green texture, whilst creating connotations such as untidy and wild despite its clean back layer. He added a drop shadow so it had some depth to it, aswell as a outer glow to make a 3D looking edge. The satin effect also contributed to the toning on the edge which further give it that 3D effect. Despite the fact that this doesn't particularly relate to the genre of drum and bass the fact that their texts tends to be quite "poppy" and very vibrant in order to draw the audience attentions, yet some drum and bass texts consists of dull, dark, and bold texts.
When producing this text it was going to represent the pop genre, as this is evident through the splatter effects combined with the vibrant colors in order to make the text stand out more and becomes the main focus. Furthermore this is further emphasised by making the text black, and giving it a slight 3D effect as well as adding a drop shadow. This links more to the drum and bass covers that tend to be bubbly, fun and exciting, which is usually more for the mainstream drum and bass album covers rather than the more underground album covers.
This is an example of a drum and bass album that posses more underground elements, which is then conveyed through the use of the chrome effects, along with the sharp jagged edges. This has connotations of danger and an raw power, which is then further emphasised by the yellow and black striped baarrier surrounding the main title. This album isn't from a particular artist an is more an amalgamation of different drum and bass artist but this helps to convey these artists as aforementioned underground and more raw and dominant.
